ArcEdge Showcases Roofit.Solar at the Embassy of Estonia During EU Open House in Washington, D.C.

ArcEdge was honored to be invited to the Embassy of Estonia in Washington, D.C. during the EU Open House, where visitors had the chance to experience Estonian culture, innovation, and design firsthand.

ArcEdge was honored to be invited to the Embassy of Estonia in Washington, D.C. as part of the EU Open House, where we had the opportunity to showcase Roofit.Solar’s integrated solar metal roofing technology alongside our installer friends at Uprise Solar.

The EU Open House is the European Union Delegation’s flagship public event in Washington, D.C., held each year around Europe Day. The event opens the doors of the EU Delegation and more than 20 European Union member country embassies, allowing visitors to experience European culture, food, music, history, design, and innovation without crossing the Atlantic. The 2026 event is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 from 10 AM to 4 PM, and this year’s theme also celebrates 250 years of shared history, ideas, and achievements between Europe and the United States.

For ArcEdge, the Embassy of Estonia was a natural fit.

Roofit.Solar was born in Estonia, a country known for forward-thinking technology, clean design, and practical innovation. The product reflects that same mindset: a standing seam-style metal roof that also functions as a solar energy system. Instead of mounting traditional solar panels on top of a roof, Roofit.Solar integrates solar directly into the roofing material itself, creating a sleek architectural finish while generating clean power.

At the event, visitors were able to see and handle Roofit.Solar materials, learn how the system works, and ask questions about how integrated solar roofing can be used on homes, cabins, commercial buildings, and new construction projects across the U.S.

We were joined by Uprise Solar, our installer partners in the Washington, D.C. area, who helped speak with visitors about installation, project planning, and what it takes to bring this type of technology to real buildings in the region.

What made the event especially meaningful was the setting. The Embassy of Estonia’s EU Open House program invited visitors into a historic 120-year-old home on Embassy Row, blending classic American architecture with modern Nordic design. That combination mirrors what we see every day in the solar roofing market: customers want clean energy, but they also care deeply about the look and long-term value of their home or building.

That is where integrated solar roofing has a powerful role to play.

Solar does not have to feel like an afterthought. It can be part of the architecture. It can replace conventional roofing materials. It can protect the structure, produce energy, and preserve the design intent of the building all at once.

Events like EU Open House are a reminder that innovation often moves across borders through relationships, shared ideas, and trusted local partners. Roofit.Solar may have started in Estonia, but through ArcEdge, Uprise Solar, and other installation partners across the country, this technology is finding its place in the American market.

We are grateful to the Embassy of Estonia for including us, to Uprise Solar for joining us, and to everyone who stopped by to learn more about what the future of solar roofing can look like.

Clean energy can be beautiful.
A roof can be more than a roof.
And sometimes, the future of American buildings starts with an idea from Estonia.

One of the most meaningful moments of the trip was when ArcEdge received an award recognizing the Roofit.Solar installation located the furthest distance from Roofit’s headquarters in Estonia. For us, it symbolized more than geography, it represented how far integrated solar roofing has come, and how global the demand for truly seamless renewable solutions has become.

Looking forward, this trip reaffirmed why ArcEdge partnered with Roofit.Solar in the first place. We are incredibly excited about the future growth of Roofit.Solar in the United States and the new products currently in development, innovations that will continue to blur the line between roofing and energy generation.

We returned home inspired, energized, and more committed than ever to bringing world-class solar roofing solutions to the U.S. market.

Here’s to the next decade of innovation, and to building a smarter, more resilient future together.

Solar by Barge in Virginia

Delivered by barge and installed over open water, this Virginia island project features a 12 kW ArcEdge solar roof built with 95 integrated panels. Designed for marine conditions and complex access, it proves that solar can be both architectural and resilient.

A 12 kW Integrated Solar Roof on a Virginia Island Dock House

Some projects stand out not because they’re large, but because they push the boundaries of where high-performance solar can go.

This recent Virginia waterfront installation is a perfect example. The project features a 12 kW ArcEdge integrated solar roof system, consisting of 95 Roofit.Solar panels, installed on an over-water boat dock house located on a private island. With no road access, every component of the system was custom-crated and barged across open water before installation began.

Built for Access Challenges — and Harsh Environments

Reaching the site required careful coordination and planning. Panels were staged, crated, and transported by barge to ensure safe delivery without compromising finish or performance. Once on site, the system was installed directly onto the dock house structure, fully integrated into the metal roofing assembly.

Marine environments are among the most demanding conditions for any building system. Salt air, wind exposure, humidity, and direct sun all place long-term stress on materials. ArcEdge’s integrated solar roofing is engineered specifically to perform in these conditions, making it an ideal solution for coastal and over-water structures.

One System, Three Panel Sizes, Zero Compromises

This project utilized all three ArcEdge panel sizes, allowing the layout to be optimized around roof geometry, penetrations, and structural constraints without breaking visual continuity. The result is a clean, architectural roofline that produces energy efficiently while maintaining a uniform appearance.

System highlights include:

  • 12 kW total system capacity

  • 95 integrated solar panels

  • Three panel sizes for precise layout control

  • No rack-mounted hardware

  • Seamless metal roof and solar integration

By designing the solar as part of the roof — not an add-on — the system maintains consistent sightlines from every angle, including from the water.

Why Integrated Solar Matters for Waterfront Projects

Traditional rack-mounted solar systems often struggle in coastal settings due to wind uplift, corrosion risk, and visual impact. Integrated solar roofing addresses these challenges by embedding the solar directly into the roofing material itself.

For this island dock house, that meant:

  • Reduced wind exposure and uplift risk

  • Cleaner aesthetics suited to a high-end waterfront property

  • Fewer penetrations and simplified waterproofing

  • A durable, long-term solution designed for marine climates

Expanding What’s Possible with Solar Roofing

This Virginia project demonstrates what’s possible when solar is designed as a building material rather than an afterthought. From barge delivery to final install, the ArcEdge system proved that access limitations and unique site conditions don’t have to limit performance, durability, or design.

Whether it’s a private island, a coastal home, or a complex architectural roof, integrated solar opens the door to projects that traditional systems simply can’t serve.

If you’re exploring solar for a waterfront or hard-to-access property, ArcEdge is built for the challenge.

7.25 kW Solar Roof Underway in Maryland

ArcEdge is excited to share progress on our latest U.S. installation—a 7.25 kW integrated solar metal roof currently being installed on a home in Maryland. This project is a full reroof, replacing the homeowner’s aging asphalt with a premium, black standing-seam metal roof that also functions as the solar array.

Unlike traditional bolt-on solar systems, our integrated solar roof delivers clean energy generation without the clutter, penetrations, or added hardware. Each panel locks into the standing seam, creating a single, seamless roof surface that’s both energy-producing and architecturally clean.

Why This Maryland Reroof Is a Perfect Fit for Integrated Solar

  • Reroof + Solar in One Step: The homeowner needed a new roof and chose an elevated solution, premium metal plus built-in solar.

  • Efficient 7.25 kW System: Perfectly sized to offset a large portion of the home’s energy use.

  • Weather-Ready Construction: This region gets a mix of heavy rains, wind, and winter weather. Our integrated system is engineered to perform in all conditions.

What’s Next

Installation is underway now, with final completion and commissioning expected shortly. We’ll share full photos and performance updates once the system is live.
